Our Services

  • Our individual sessions provide a safe environment for students to actively participate in the learning process. We offer support in reading, writing, math, and other content areas. We also provide support for students who need assistance with executive functioning skills, i.e., planning, prioritizing, and initiating work. Our goal is to help students develop an understanding of their learning styles and how to use this knowledge in learning environments.

  • We offer college counseling for every kind of student and have successfully helped students get into their first choice schools in highly competitive programs such as Stanford, MIT, and University of Washington, to name a few.

Students with unique learning needs often believe there is a very narrow choice of post-secondary schools available to them. Within the past several years, many colleges and universities have begun to offer expanded support programs for students with learning challenges. Island Educational Services can support students and their families through the journey of selecting an appropriate college, university, or program. In addition, tutors can help students navigate the application process, including the writing of the college essay. Our expertise also includes supporting students through the transition process if needs are more challenging.

We also offer content support for students at the collegiate level in math and language arts as well as GED support for high school students. For those students who have left the Bainbridge Island area for post-high school opportunities, we use technology, such as remote meetings, to support students who may need academic and/or organizational coaching through the transition from high school to college.

  • For students who are challenged with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) or EF (Executive Functioning deficits), our tutors work on strategies to enhance student abilities and manage their learning needs.
