Laura Henry
For most of her career, Laura Henry has been a university educator. Her globally-earned education and a binational, bilingual family have brought her unique life demands. Raised in Eugene, Oregon, Laura has returned to her Pacific Northwest roots after a long stint as a professor at the new professional law schools in Korea while raising a bilingual son.
The Master’s in Economics program at the University of Washington initially took her to Korea, where she made life-shaping decisions, marrying a foreign national, propelling her into teaching, starting with the Executive MBA program at Seoul National University.
After the pressures of Asian big city life and the daily challenges of adapting to a new culture, Laura relishes returning to the joys of her childhood: math, the woods, and music. She feels wiser, having witnessed the breathtaking modernization of Korea from the inside, a country that continues to innovate its way out of its status as a resource-scarce country sandwiched between great powers, achieving significant advances in green economic development.
Locally, Laura volunteers with the Government Affairs Committee of the Clean Tech Alliance, advocating for energy transition as a means to combat climate change.
In 2022, she completed a Certificate in Data Analysis from the Professional Continuing Education Program at the University of Washington, which she will apply to her undying passion for addressing climate change and statistics-based decision-making.
Laura is a member of the Amabile Choir and a dedicated volunteer violist with the Poulsbo Community Orchestra.
